I do not have the game, but i may be able to update the mod.

You need to unpack the game default .pak files.
Use this tool:
https://github.com/allcoolthingsatoneplace/UnrealPakTool
And we can go from there.
I've unpacked the files, isolated the same all the files that seemed relevant (pretty much exactly the files modified in the original mod) preserving folder structure, but I'm stuck on how to 1) zero out the data for the files similar to what the original modder did and 2) get the game to load when adding the new .pak file after repacking. I just get a black screen when I've attempted it. But I'm also probably doing something wrong.

Right, so devs obviously moved/repacked those files to a different location, otherwise they should have been working with any version.

First check the new structure; Does the NEW "Bumper_Sticker" folder still have the files?, i'm assuming it's not.
\Content\Gameplay\Inventory\Items\Car\Cosmetic\Bumper_Sticker\
If u can, archive the whole "Cosmetic" folder and attach it here.

If you find the appropriate files by that point and copy/paste the older mod on top of them, don't repack anything yet.
! Replicate the exact folder structure with the new files in your SAVED folder.
Here's the example how it looks in SoD game:
...\AppData\Local\StateOfDecay2\Saved\Cooked\WindowsNoEditor\StateOfDecay2\Content\...
To quickly access it, do win+r command and type "appdata" in the command line.

You can try with the one file first. For example there is a "Astronaut_01" folder there. Try replacing the files inside it with any other files from "Bumper_Sticker" folder.

So after unpacking and browsing around what I think happened is:
All the flags and stuff got moved to \Content\Gameplay\Inventory\Items\Car\Cosmetic\Bumper_Sticker\Materials
And they got packed together in a .ubulk file, see: .

Now, I don't know much about modding and even less about Unreal game modding but this might be some archive containing several stuff, maybe even stickers some might not want to remove. I won't go so far to install the whole Unreal Engine suite on my computer and open the files there just to check but this might be a good place for someone else to pick up the torch and do something with it. I did try to rebuild the pak without the folder but it gives an error like this: https://github.com/allcoolthingsatoneplace/UnrealPakTool/issues/10 which prob means I need to have unreal engine installed.

Yes, that seems to be the case.
1. As i said in the post above, you don't need to repack, you should try with Loose file loading first, it's similar to Skyrim modding, and It should work most of the time.
2. You can't just delete it or repack without the folder, you have to edit it. There even was a method to do it with any Hex Editor. But i've done that pretty long time ago, and need to try to find that guide again.
3. Meanwhile, if its the latest version of the game u have, u should archive and upload those files here, pref. with the same folder structure, so me and others can take a look at the files as well.

1. Yeah, I tried the method you mentioned but I got errors about missing files on launch and the game crashed. Do I need to unpack every .pak file and copy EVERYTHING from the extracted folders? I'm a bit scared of that because the unpacker already gives some errors when I unpack some of thepak files. (eg. LogPakFile: Error: PakEntry mismatch for "Maps/RunProto/Garage_Trailer_2.uexp".)
2. Well, if it is even more complicated than what I tried (unpack, create a filelist without the Materials folder, run Unrealpak with the create flag and filelist attached), then I'm glad I just gave up after ~2-2.5 hours of suffering. I'll just leave the folder structure here and leave it to someone more competent in modding.
3. Here is the catbox link to the archive: https://files.catbox.moe/dpwvl0.7z. It's the unpacked pakchunk0-WindowsNoEditor.pak with only the path to the Materials folder and the files inside.

I'll try to look at the thread sometimes to see if there are questions, but I spent too much time trying to remove the flags and it drained me too much. I'll go play some other games that respect me and my time more before the holiday vacation ends.

You don't need to unpack everything, just the stuff you want to change, and rest you just delete or move to some other folder. The errors should not bother you, because you just unpacking stuff, and not editing the archives.

I will try to fiddle with the files, but since i don't have the game, it'll be hard for me to test if there's any progress, unless anyone else makes the working version first.
🎄 Thanks for the unpacked stuff, enjoy your holiday!

Ok, so after looking at how to better edit the mod, i found that there is already an interesting mod on nexus, that for some reason is still not deleted.
It just replaces the gay flags with country flags.

I'll attach the files here if you want to direct download it, or just go to nexus page.

Oh, this actually looks cool and it has my country so I'll definitely put it on my car :) Tested, works, make sure to put the tilde (~) before the created Mods folder name as the mod page instruction says. Thanks for sharing!
