Your deepest fears
I miss the days when you didn't have every game trying to appeal to some political leftist bullshit, its not good enough that they get a month to themselves (you know who you are) but they invade our favorite hobbies, This is why gamergate existed and was a good thing, it kept out retards and the mentally ill, But that's aside the point.. Besides the push for progressive leftist ideology in video games we are seeing a creative rot, a creative and to squeeze as much money out of the consumer as possible, AAA gaming is no longer about quality or making a good product its about pushing out games as fast as humanly possible, often in disastrous results, **cough cough** cyberpunk 2077 on launch..

There were no such things as "day one" patches back in the day because there wasn't a need or at least they were rare, most games back then released in a stable enough state you didn't need to install a 25gb patch just to play the damn game you purchased. Games are increasingly getting more and more worst in terms of content provided and buggier, and greedier with Nintendo, Sony and the rest of the industry not only raising the prices of video games and their console but were also witnessing the slow death and current pitiful state of physical gaming in general for this more controlled digital crap, which gives them more control on the consumer because you don't own the games anymore, Must i even mention the state of the Switch 2 and all that crap? i been really burned out by AAA gaming, I no longer feel excited about the next game because it will likely be an unfinished, buggy microtransaction filled and woke slop, oh and having to install 300gb of a game on my system, yeah that's another thing with modern gaming is the increasingly stupid size of games with seemingly no end.

And well were on the part of stupidly large video games, let's briefly mention how it seems every game today has to be as realistic as possible, doesn't matter if it runs like shit on most state of the art systems as long as the graphics are the best they have ever been, Hey gameplay and performance be damned right?.. But no let's rely on nvidia upscaling too pull the heavy duty work of optimization, because modern AAA games on PC are not optimized at all, you try running most games in 2k without TAA and upscaling of any kind and come back to me, games like Silent Hill 2 for example are a perfect example of his issue of optimization, Back then devs actually took the time to optimize their games.

RTX is another thing, i like it and i hate it at the same time because well it makes lot of games look nicer it kills performance, and of course these devs rely on it to carry the optimization and visual fidelity, unlike before RTX where devs had to make their own lighting systems and such to simulate lot of the great lighting effects and reflections we saw in games like MGSV and GTA V.

Anyways my rant aside, what do you think is wrong with today's gaming industry? do you also feel the same way or do you think there are worst issues or issues i missed.

On the topic of buggy/unfinished/unoptimized games on day one, i would blame this on popularization of game engines like UE an Unity.
Nowadays you don't really need to be a good programmer; just open the engine, load some free assets from the shop and it's good to go, where as before, you had to make everything from scratch, including, most of the time, the damn engine itself.
And while for the one or two people, who trying to make a game it's an awesome time save, the major AAA companies are doing the same shit just to save money, and outsourcing the whole process to thousands of Indians in other small companies.
And why shouldn't they, people will buy this buggy mess anyway.
Nevertheless, there are few well made games popping up from time to time from small developers, so it may come back to "normal" eventually 😁.
