Horizon Hunters Gathering: "Somehow Concord Returned"

Horizon Hunters Gathering is a newly announced co-op action game set in the Horizon universe (post-Forbidden West), developed by Guerrilla Games and published by PlayStation Publishing LLC. It launched its Steam page and official announcement on February 5, 2026, with trailers showcasing stylized, cel-shaded visuals distinct from the series' realistic style.

Relation to Concord

Concord (Firewalk Studios/Sony, 2024) was a $40 hero-shooter live-service flop: <700 peak players, shut down after 14 days, $200M+ loss. Horizon Hunters Gathering (HHG) isn't a direct sequel—it's PVE co-op hunting vs. PVP shooting—but it's drawn identical backlash as Sony's "next live-service disaster."

"Woke Agenda" Criticism

HHG's Hunters are diverse (Black, Asian-inspired, muscular women, etc.), sparking "forced DEI" rants. Designs called "ugliest cast ever," "peak woke slop," "awful" (masculine females, unnatural proportions). No pronouns/bio controversies yet, but echoes Concord's "ugly heroes" hate. Defenders note Horizon's always been diverse; critics say it's agenda-driven like Concord (which had pronoun lists).
Backlash amplified on X/Reddit (e.g., Kabrutus, Grummz, KotakuInAction). Some dismiss as "chud whining," claiming it's for "modern audiences."
